Creek in Crisis: Stormwater runoff degrades Wissahickon Creek

Here is a great example of how stormwater impacts all of us! Earlier this week the Times Herald News published coverage about the need to clean up Wissahickon Creek and how communities can support a healthier watershed. 

“All of the water that falls on those coverage zones can no longer be absorbed naturally and flows directly into the stream, which causes flooding, erosion, less oxygen content, more pollution and less biodiversity. A healthy creek should contain around 68 percent groundwater and 30 percent runoff, according to Crockett, who said that the opposite is true in the Wissahickon."
